How it works
From solo to tab
Lead, apart from the rest
The solo on its own staff
Lead and rhythm guitar are separate tabs, so the solo isn't tangled up with the chords under it. The bass comes along too.
Lead Guitar
6 stringsMelodies, fills and solos: the single-note line that sits on top of the mix, with the fret positions to play it.
Upload a songBass
4 stringsThe low end on its own staff: four strings, tuned the way you play, with the line written out note for note.
Audio to bass tabsRhythm Guitar
6 stringsThe chords and riffs underneath: the part that carries the song, kept apart from the lead so neither clutters the other.

Built for learning fast passages
Solos are the parts people most want to learn and the hardest to pick out by ear. With the lead on its own tab, every note on the staff belongs to the line you're learning.
On the note highway the solo scrolls toward you along the fretboard, so you can see where your hand needs to go before the note arrives.
Getting a clean solo tab
- Choose a version where the solo sits up front in the mix. Studio recordings usually beat live ones.
- If the solo starts late in the song, the 90-second preview may not reach it. The full build covers the whole track.
- Set the capo before building. A solo played with a capo reads very differently without one.
Slow it down
Play the lead at anything from 25% to 150% speed on the note highway, with the pitch kept.
Loop the hard part
Set an A/B loop around one phrase and run it until it's clean.
Hear how you did
With live input on, notes light up as you hit them and the run ends with a score.
Capo and tuning
Set the lead guitar's tuning and capo so the frets in the tab match how the song was played.
Songbook
Try it on a finished song
Open a Songbook track to read the tabs and play along in your browser, then upload a song of your own.
How accurate are the tabs?
Accurate enough to play straight from. NoteNav writes every part note for note, in playable positions for your tuning and capo, and the tab follows the original recording so you can hear each bar against what you're reading. The first 90 seconds of every song are free, so try it on a song you know and compare it with anything else you've tried.
Can it transcribe a guitar solo from a full song?
Yes. Upload the finished recording and NoteNav writes the lead guitar as its own tab.
Are lead and rhythm guitar separate?
Yes. Lead guitar and rhythm guitar are separate tabs, so the solo isn't mixed in with the chords. On a song with one guitar you may get only one of the two.
Can I slow a solo down?
Yes. The tab player plays at 0.75×, 1× or 1.25×, and the note highway goes from 25% to 150%. Both keep the pitch.
Will the solo be in the free preview?
The preview covers the first 90 seconds. If the solo comes later, build the full song to get it.
Can I export the lead part?
Yes. The Guitar Pro 7 export has the lead guitar as its own track.
