How it works

From AI song to tab

An MP3 is dropped in, the bass, lead guitar and rhythm guitar parts are written out as tab beside the audio, and the lead part then plays on NoteNav's note highway.

Three parts, one track

The band in your track, part by part

A generated song arrives as one finished mix, with nobody to ask how the riff goes. NoteNav gives the bass, lead guitar and rhythm guitar their own tabs, so you can learn each one.

Bass

4 strings
GDAE55753353

The low end on its own staff: four strings, tuned the way you play, with the line written out note for note.

Audio to bass tabs

Lead Guitar

6 strings
eBGDAE57585885

Melodies, fills and solos: the single-note line that sits on top of the mix, with the fret positions to play it.

Guitar solos to tabs

Rhythm Guitar

6 strings
eBGDAE5757575735353535

The chords and riffs underneath: the part that carries the song, kept apart from the lead so neither clutters the other.

No tab to look up

Nobody has tabbed this song yet

A well-known song usually has a tab online already. A song you generated last night has no tab, no lesson and no player to watch, so the only way to learn it is to work it out from the audio. NoteNav does that part for you.

The tab is written in playable positions for the tuning and capo you set, and it follows the generated track bar by bar, so you can check each phrase against what you hear.

Getting clean tabs from an AI song

  • Download the best quality the app offers. A WAV gives the transcription more to work with than a compressed MP3.
  • If you generated a few versions, start with the one where the guitars sound clearest.
  • Set the tuning and capo yourself before you build. Suggestions come from the title and artist, and a song you just made has no recording to look up.
  • A tab for each part

Bass, lead guitar and rhythm guitar each come back as their own tab, so you can pick the part you want to play.

  • Your tuning, your capo

Choose from 36 tunings for each instrument and set a capo on either guitar, so the frets match how you want to play it.

  • Practice on the highway

Play any part on the note highway at 25% to 150% speed, with chord names and an A/B loop.

  • Guitar Pro export

Download a .gp file with each part on its own track, ready to edit, arrange or print in Guitar Pro.

FAQ

AI song questions

More answers on the FAQ page, or email [email protected].

How accurate are the tabs?

Accurate enough to play straight from. NoteNav writes every part note for note, in playable positions for your tuning and capo, and the tab follows the original recording so you can hear each bar against what you're reading. The first 90 seconds of every song are free, so try it on a song you know and compare it with anything else you've tried.

Can NoteNav make tabs from an AI-generated song?

Yes. A generated song is an audio file like any other. Upload it and NoteNav writes bass, lead guitar and rhythm guitar tabs for the parts it finds.

Which AI music generators does it work with?

Any that let you download the song as an MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A or AAC file. NoteNav only needs the audio.

What if the song has no guitar?

NoteNav skips any part it can't find and still builds the others. Drums, keys and vocals aren't transcribed. The track page tells you which parts were skipped.

Can I take the tabs into Guitar Pro?

Yes. Export a Guitar Pro 7 (.gp) file from the tab player. Each part is a separate track, and the capo you set carries over.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Every new track starts with a free preview of the first 90 seconds, tabbed and playable against the recording. A full song costs 10 credits.
